After receiving several Hampshire Music Awards, Philip studied cello and conducting at the Royal Northern College of Music, under the guidance of Jenny Curtis, Alice Neary and Peter Dixon. During his time in Manchester, Philip won the prestigious Music at Beaulieu Competition, performed at the Wigmore Hall, and participated in the International RNCM Shostakovich Festival in 2006. After graduating from the RNCM, Philip received an entrance scholarship to the Royal College of Music, London to study with Alexander Boyarsky.
As a scholarship student and Junior Fellow at Birmingham Conservatoire Philip won the Strings Prize, the Rollason Award, the Sylvia Cleaver Chamber Prize, and second prize in the Ludlow Philharmonic Competition 2009, and second prize in the 2010 Delius Competition. Philip then went on to win the coveted Symphony Hall Recital Prize 2010. He has received masterclasses from Alexander Ivashkin, Guy Johnston, Raphael Wallfisch, Sagi Hartov, and Felix Schmidt.
Philip can be hired for a 20 - 40 minute showcase performance. Alternatively, he can also be hired for upto 2 hours of background music. Additional timings can be negotiated.
Philip can perform specific pieces for your event should you have a request. He is constantly updating his repertoire list so please do enquire if you can't find what you're looking for.
Travel expenses are included unless your location is further afield. They do perform nationally but additional expenses will incur for travel and accommodation - Please enquire for further details.
